Currently working on a commission caricature of boxing legend Muhammed Ali, this will also be available as a print to purchase so will post the final artwork as soon as its ready. Heres the rough design im working from, lots of people in the background but rather than do them all in detail i think it will look better keeping them simple so it will draw the eye towards the main character. The Adventures of Mr. Pilkington…
Looking forward to the 4th episode of ‘An Idiot Abroad’ this Thursday with bald grumpy mancunian Karl Pilkington, star of the Ricky Gervais podcasts and guides. If you havent seen the programme its a sort of Michael Palin Around the world in 80 days but features Mr. Pilkington visiting the 7 wonders of the world, with each episode documenting Karl on his journey to each of the 7 wonders. Karl is basically an empty headed bald mancunian who likes to speaks his mind and is not impressed very easily by anything. So quintessentially British and many times on the programme spouts out what would be considered racial taboos and social faux pas in today’s P.C. society, but does so without the slightest ounce of cynicism or nastiness. As Ricky Gervais puts it ‘Karl is the funniest, baldest, grumpiest Manc twat in the world’. I have to agree…. Been searching Youtube for more videos of Karl and stumbled upon some deleted scenes from ‘An Idiot Abroad’ which im guessing will be released on the DVD at some point. In this one the chinese bus driver is tucking into some noodles and chicken’s feet and Karl is left a bit confused…
Carry On (update)
Just an update on the Carry On poster, instead of Babs reading a book i’ve now got her covering her boobs (made larger) and her bra resting on the top of Sids head. Only a minor change but i think it adds to the humour of the illustration (click for a larger view).
Next week im starting work on a new black and white print of Claude Rains as the Invisible Man, part of my classic 1930’s black and white horror stars to go along side Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jnr. and Snr and hopefully after that will finish off my Queen caricature i started a while back now. Going to watch ‘The Wolfman’ on DVD now (the unrated version), will report back with my film review later…
(update). Pretty good 7/10, can’t beat the 1930 b&w version tho…
